Beijing - First Encounter!
Right now I am at Beijing and in one of the motel chains here..Hmm..nothing sleazy about the motel..a pretty well-known motel in China, with many chains all around the country..Pretty clean toilet and room so it is not as bad as I had imagined it to be..But the location isn’t that well..Looks a bit dangerous so am back in my room at 8pm right after dinner with my Chinese colleague..Kinda sharing the room with her but a bit strange as it is a double-bed and not twin..Hmm..feel kinda strange to share a double-bed with a stranger..If it is with my B, that wouldn’t be a problem or with J from work since I know her so well..But now, it is sharing with someone whom am not close with..so am still trying to get past that..
But seriously I dunch quite like the place..Firstly it is super duberb polluted with the whole city looking foggy every time, even at nite..And the taxi drivers..boy are they rude and dirty! And they all speak Chinese with no single knowledge of English..Gosh..i wonder how the ang-mohs are going to deal with it when they come for the Olympics next year! And they so-just spit outside the taxi without even bothering about peeps walking around! Gosh! Secondly the place is not so equipped with infrastructure..Unlike Bangkok, where I totally feel at home even though the peeps there also do not speak English..alrights, they speak simple english or even if they don’t, they understand what you are talking about..Over here..it is a NO NO when u speak English man..*sighs* Talking about infrastructure, yes, there’s no MRT sorta thing and you have to get to everywhere by taxi which is not encouraged if your Chinese, like myself aint good..coz the taxi drivers do not know everywhere! So practically you cant go anywhere if you do not stay near any malls…:(
Thirdly, all the TV Channels are showing BORING Chinese shows! Probably the hotel that me staying in which do not have cable so all local channels which are superb boring as well..:( Sighs..i miss my AXN!! HBO!!! MTV!!! Nickelodeon!!
My GM told me to stay with my Chinese colleague coz it is nearer to my Beijing office..well I don’t think so..The original hotel which I have booked for myself is so much nearer to the office man! But again, it might be a blessing that am staying with her since she can converse really well in Chinese and that solves my transportation problem on taxi..:)
Now it is like 10.16pm over here and boy I cant wait for Wednesday to be here..cant wait to get onto my 0005 Thursday midnight flight to fly back to Singapore, to familiarity, to my cozy bed, to my Ah B and of course to my beloved baby!!! ☺ Only a day here and am already missing him..whenever I get the free time, I would b thinking what is he doing back in Singapore….:)
